The Annual Prizegiving of East Lothian Yacht Club was held in the Clubhouse at the Harbour, North Berwick on Saturday 29 October 2016. The event was combined with one of Andreas’s famous Greek Nights, but with fewer courses than normal, so it was called “Greek Night Light” with three courses accompanied by wine and Ouzo so no one left the tables hungry.

Of the many recipients of Trophies, Debra DeCrausaz, who hails from the USA but is living in North Berwick and working in Scotland, got a big cheer for her “Best New Sailor” award.

Robbie Lawson, Commodore of East Lothian Yacht Club said after the prizegiving:-

I would like to thank everyone who came along and contributed to our annual prize giving last night. It was a great evening and a delight to see our wonderful club and bar bustling with so many of our members. I would like to pass on congratulations to all the prize winners. In particular, I would like to congratulate Donald McKinnon on his award of the Kestrel Propeller for Outstanding Service to the Club. Donald has served selflessly on committee as Rescue Officer followed by 6 years as a Flag Officer. As if this were not enough, he has continued to nurture and service our fleet of RIBs, repairing the abuse that the rest of the membership inflict upon them. In addition, he has continued to be instrumental in coordinating our running of regattas and events, particularly in the rescue areas. For a club such as ours, relying entirely on the selfless contribution of members to make it function, Donald really has embodied the spirit of ELYC and is a deserving addition to the worthy list of recipients.”
